Allison Chinchar works as a weather forecaster for CNN as well as HLN. She is frequently featured in CNN's "New Day weekend' and HLN's 'Weekend Express', as in CNN International programs. Before joining CNN in June 2015 she served as meteorologist for the local station in Atlanta, Nashville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. The station covered blizzards and hurricanes along with flooding and wildfires, and won an Emmy for the coverage she provided of Dorian, a hurricane that struck the Bahamas. Dorian which struck the Bahamas during the year of 2019. In April 2011 she covered an outbreak of Super Tornados when 350 tornadoes struck the Southeastern United States within four days. Over 200 of them took place on April 27th, 2011. She has covered the effects of climate change but has also covered volcanic eruptions and earthquakes because of her environmental science background. Chinchar has a Bachelors of Science with a major in Atmospheric Science. She graduated from The Ohio State University. She is a member of numerous organizations, such as the American Meteorological Society and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
